A strategy group is a basket of option legs whose premium is summed into one line. The Strategy Group Chart lets you build up to 5 such groups and compare them side by side — for example, a 25500-25700 straddle basket vs a 25300-25500 basket — to see how different segments of the option chain are repricing through the session. Each group can hold straddles (CE + PE pair per strike) or individual CE/PE legs. ### How is this different from the Multi-Straddle Chart? The Multi-Straddle Chart shows each strike's straddle as its own line — five individual straddles. The Strategy Group Chart shows summed BASKETS of legs — each line is the combined premium of several strikes/legs. Use multi-straddle to compare individual strike volatility; use strategy group to compare aggregate volatility across configurable strike ranges or to model multi-leg structures. ### How many groups and legs are allowed? Up to 5 groups. Each group can include up to 5 straddles (5 strikes × CE+PE = 10 instruments) in straddle mode, or up to 10 individual CE/PE legs in call-put mode. Strikes can repeat across groups — overlapping baskets are valid and useful for comparing rolling-window aggregates. ### How are the API calls structured? The tool computes the union of unique legs across all your groups, then splits them into chunks per request and fires them in parallel. The responses are merged client-side and each group's combined line is computed from the merged data. Overlapping groups share legs — no double-fetch. ### Can I use this for back-testing? Yes. Switch to Historical mode, pick any past trading day, and define groups around the event you care about. Useful for studying how different strike baskets or strategy structures behaved on volatility days (RBI, Budget, FOMC) compared to calm days. ### Which symbols are supported? All NSE F&O underlyings — Nifty, BankNifty, FinNifty, MidcpNifty, Sensex, and every F&O stock. Liquidity matters: far-OTM legs on illiquid stocks may have noisy lines because the underlying option data is thin. ## How to use the Strategy Group Chart 1. **Pick the underlying and expiry** — Choose Nifty, BankNifty, or any F&O stock. Pick the expiry whose options you want to study. 2. **Pick selection mode** — Choose 'Straddle' to add CE + PE pairs per strike, or 'Call / Put' to add individual CE or PE legs. 3. **Set up your groups** — Click 'Add' to create up to 5 groups. Click a group to make it active. 4. **Add legs to the active group** — Click strikes from the picker — they're added to whichever group is currently active. Up to 5 straddles or 10 legs per group. 5. **Compare baskets** — Each group renders as one line — its colour matches the group dot. Compare how different baskets of options are decaying or expanding through the session. 6. **Pick Simple or Drawing** — Simple is quick. Drawing adds trendlines, fib, and the full TradingView toolkit. ## Related tools - [Multi-Straddle Chart](https://stockmojo.in/multi-straddle-chart) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/multi-straddle-chart.md - [ATM Straddle Chart](https://stockmojo.in/straddle-chart) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/straddle-chart.md - [Multi-Strike Chart](https://stockmojo.in/multistrike-chart) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/multistrike-chart.md - [Premium Decay](https://stockmojo.in/premium-decay) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/premium-decay.md ## Glossary Terms used: strategy-group, strategy-basket, premium-aggregate, volatility-comparison.
