The Option ATP Chart is a single-strike premium chart. You pick one strike and it plots both of its legs together — the call and the put — along with their session average traded price, the straddle mid, and reference levels derived from the opening five minutes and the previous session. It is the option-premium equivalent of a price chart with VWAP and pivots on it. ### What is the ATM Mid line? It is the call premium plus the put premium at your base strike, divided by two — half the straddle. It is the most useful line on the chart because it tracks whether premium is expanding or decaying. A rising ATM Mid means volatility is being paid for and favours option buyers; a falling one means the session is decaying and favours sellers. ### What are the TG 1 and TG 2 lines? TG 1 is the same straddle mid computed one strike in the money — the call one strike below your base paired with the put one strike above. TG 2 does the same two strikes out. Because both legs sit near half a delta at the money, these lines run roughly parallel to the ATM Mid, about half a strike gap and a full strike gap above it. Treat them as offset reference levels rather than independent signals. ### How is the ATP calculated? ATP is the session average traded price of a leg: the running sum of price multiplied by traded volume, divided by the running volume, from the first candle of the day. It resets every session. A premium trading above its own ATP means the average buyer that day is in profit; below it means the average buyer is underwater. ### Is ATP on an option the same as VWAP on a stock? Mathematically yes, but it reads differently. Option premium drifts with time decay, so on a decaying day the price sits below its ATP nearly all session and on an expanding day above it nearly all session. That makes the ATP cross a slower, more confirmatory signal than a stock VWAP cross, and it is best read alongside the underlying rather than on its own. ### What is the Opening Ladder? It anchors on the ATM straddle mid at the close of the first five minutes and steps fixed premium amounts above and below it — four rungs up as targets and two down as a downside reference. The step sizes are absolute rupee offsets carried over from the original indicator and were tuned on Nifty, so on other underlyings the ladder is only a rough guide. It is switched off by default. ### What are the Prev-Day Levels? For each leg the tool takes the previous session's closing premium and its distance from that session's final ATP, then draws a band of the close plus and minus that distance. It also plots the previous day's combined straddle value and its mid. Because option premium decays, the band widens on quiet sessions as well as trending ones, so read it as a rough reference rather than a volatility measure. ### Which strikes does the tool fetch? Five: your base strike and the two on each side of it, taken straight from the live strike ladder. Both the call and the put of each are fetched, so ten legs in total. There is no strike-gap setting to configure because the neighbours come from the actual chain. ### Can I see the Option ATP Chart for past sessions? Yes. Switch to Historical mode and pick any past trading day — the same lines rebuild from that session's data with the same expiry, strike and timeframe controls. Historical access requires a paid plan. ## How to use the StockMojo Option ATP Chart 1. **Select an underlying and expiry** — Choose Nifty, BankNifty, Sensex or an F&O stock and the expiry you trade. The nearest weekly expiry carries the most premium activity. 2. **Pick a base strike** — Leave it on Auto to follow the ATM strike, or select a specific strike to pin the chart to the contract you are actually trading. 3. **Choose a timeframe** — 1m gives the truest ATP because it weights every minute's volume; 5m and 15m read more cleanly for the straddle waves. 4. **Read premium expansion first** — Watch the ATM Mid. Rising means premium is being paid for and buying has the wind behind it; falling means the session is decaying and selling does. 5. **Use ATP for the leg bias** — Compare each leg against its own ATP line. The leg trading above its average traded price is the one being accumulated that session. 6. **Add the level groups if you want them** — Switch on the Opening Ladder for fixed targets off the first five minutes, or Prev-Day Levels for the previous session's reference band. Both are off by default to keep the chart readable. ## Related tools - [Straddle Chart](https://stockmojo.in/straddle-chart) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/straddle-chart.md - [Multi-Straddle Chart](https://stockmojo.in/multi-straddle-chart) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/multi-straddle-chart.md - [Premium Decay](https://stockmojo.in/premium-decay) — markdown: https://stockmojo.in/premium-decay.md ## Glossary Terms used: straddle, volume, implied-volatility.
